West Star Aviation’s Chattanooga location (KCHA) has recently completed its first 1A/750-hour inspection on a Gulfstream G600 aircraft. As a full-service MRO location, KCHA has a full range of capabilities and is no stranger to major inspections or maintenance work.
This is the first Gulfstream G600 the team has had the pleasure of servicing. Gulfstream Program Manager Lee Smieja reports the project went smoothly as his team brought the aircraft into compliance with the 1A/750-hour inspection for both the #1 and #2 engines as well as related airframe items. The team also inspected the turbine exhaust case assemblies and replaced all four main tires, which required removal and reinstallation of the wheel assemblies. NAV databases were also updated per the customer’s request. Downtime was estimated to be 11 days, but the KCHA Gulfstream experts returned the aircraft to service one day early!
While this is the first G600 for the Chattanooga location, it certainly won’t be the last. West Star has made expanding tooling, parts, and increased technical resources on this airframe a priority in 2025.
