Active Shooter Training Drill at East Alton, IL (ALN)
West Star Aviation recently completed an Active Shooter Training Drill at their East Alton, IL (ALN) location. The drill was designed to assist the company in improving the safety of their employees, customers, and visitors to the facility in the incidence of an emergency. Only a select group of ALN employees participated in the initial drill. West Star plans to add this workplace violence training to their annual employee training seminars.
The drill was directed by members of a Professional Active Shooter Training company as well four officers from the local Bethalto Police Force. The drill consisted of a formal instructional period in which West Star employees were educated on statistical data regarding shootings, as well as given details on the best course of action to take in specific situations. Once the training was complete, a simulated workplace violence scenario, complete with mock shooter, was acted out at the ALN facility in order to apply the formal instruction to a real-world scenario.
“We believe it is important for our team to be prepared for any emergency situation,” said Rodger Renaud, Chief Operating Officer, West Star Aviation. “The training and mock shooting scenario was done very professionally and we are confident that our newly trained employees will be able to share their knowledge with the rest of the West Star team.”
