West Star Aviation has strengthened its long-standing commitment to safety by formally joining the FAA’s Safety Management System Voluntary Program (SMSVP) — a major step that elevates the standard of care customers can expect during every maintenance event.
For 78 years, safety has been a core value at West Star. Entering the SMSVP reinforces that commitment by ensuring our processes meet the FAA’s highest expectations for hazard reporting, risk management, and continuous improvement. Our internal SMS program — “Safety 24/7” — is built to protect our customers, their aircraft, and our team during every operation.
Proactive Hazard Identification
Safety 24/7 encourages everyone in our facilities to report hazards through our network-wide Vocus reporting system. This proactive approach allows our safety team to address issues before they impact aircraft, schedules, or people.
For customers, this means fewer disruptions, safer outcomes, and consistent, high-quality maintenance results.
Rigorous Risk Management
Aviation isn’t risk-free — but West Star works hard to understand, measure, and reduce risk in every task. Through transparent collaboration with regulators, partners, and customers, we ensure aircraft receive the safest possible care.
For customers, this means improved reliability, fewer surprises, and greater confidence in post-maintenance performance.
Continuous Improvement, Every Day
We continually refine our processes by learning from past events, industry best practices, and employee and customer feedback.
For customers, this means ongoing enhancements in quality, efficiency, and safety across our entire network.
Safety Is Essential — And Our Promise to You
At West Star, safety is more than a requirement — it’s a shared commitment and a company-wide mindset. By participating in the FAA SMSVP, we’re raising the bar for ourselves and the industry, ensuring that every aircraft entrusted to us is maintained with unmatched care and attention.
Safety 24/7 is our promise: to protect your aircraft, your schedule, and your peace of mind — every day, on every job. For more information on the FAA SMSVP or West Star Aviation’s “Safety 24/7” program, please contact any of the specialists below:
