West Star Aviation reminds Embraer Legacy 450/500 and Praetor 500/600 operators to begin planning for compliance with Service Bulletin SB 550-42-0020, introducing Pro Line Fusion Load 7.1 for the Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) system.
As the next evolution of the Collins Aerospace Pro Line Fusion platform, Load 7.1 builds upon Load 6.3.1 with targeted enhancements designed to improve usability, reduce nuisance messaging, and position the aircraft for future optional safety capabilities.
West Star Aviation is a leader in Embraer avionics support, upgrades, installation, and repair, and our teams are prepared to support operators through evaluation, scheduling, installation, and post-installation testing.
Overview: What Load 7.1 Delivers
Load 7.1 introduces important improvements to:
- Crew Alerting System (CAS) logic
- EICAS behavior
- Flight data recording standards
- Datalink and aural alert infrastructure
These enhancements improve day-to-day flight deck operation while enabling future features such as Runway Overrun Awareness and Alerting System (ROAAS) and Speaker Aural Mute capability.
Key Benefits of Pro Line Fusion Load 7.1
Quieter, Cleaner Aircraft Power-Up
- Improved CAS logic reduces unnecessary alerts during power-up.
- Provides more stable system initialization and a smoother startup experience.
EICAS FLEX 4.2 Upgrade
- Smarter timing for “PBIT TIME EXPIRED” messages reduces nuisance CAS alerts during taxi.
- Minimizes unnecessary power cycles.
- Includes Data Concentration Module enhancements to improve system reliability and dispatch performance.
Flight Data Recorder (FDR) – ED 112A Compliance
- Adds parameters required to meet updated EASA-aligned ED 112A standards.
- Ensures compliance for aircraft certified from January 2023 onward.
Updated Radio Interface Units (RIUs)
- New RIU part numbers enhance connectivity and datalink performance.
- Provides aural alert capability required for future safety features such as ROAAS.
- Improves alerting precision and system robustness.
Optional Capabilities Enabled by Load 7.1
Load 7.1 prepares the aircraft for future activation of:
Runway Overrun Awareness and Alerting System*
- Real-time runway overrun risk calculations during approach and landing.
- Proactive visual and aural alerts.
- Developed to meet EUROCAE ED 250 standards.
- Requires separate service bulletin for activation.
Speaker Aural Mute Function*
- Reduces cockpit noise by muting speaker-based alerts while maintaining headset warnings.
- Requires updated Audio Control Panels (ACPs).
- Activation requires a separate service bulletin.
*Service Bulletin release dates TBD.
Prerequisites for Installation
Prior to installing Load 7.1, the aircraft must have:
- IMS 6010 P/N 822 3132 301, either factory installed or incorporated via SB 550-42-0009.
Operator Action Required – 30 Days Prior to Installation
To ensure a smooth and efficient upgrade process, operators must provide the following at least 30 days prior to scheduled installation:
- Both Radio Interface Unit (RIU) part numbers
- An OMS download including the Aircraft Personality Module configuration files per SB 550-42-0002
Early coordination is critical to minimize downtime and avoid scheduling delays.
