RVSM STC Being Pursued for Conquest II
West Star Aviation recently announced they are pursuing a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for an RVSM solution for the Conquest II. The solution will include a dual-side Garmin G600 system and the STEC2100 Digital Autopilot. STC certification is expected first quarter of 2014.
The STC will specifically benefit Conquest operators with Meggitt Magic EFIS who are looking for options to replace their current system. Operators currently using the Magic system already have the STEC2100 autopilot installed in their aircraft. The STEC2100 is also available as a retrofit for aircraft with Cessna ARC1000 or Sperry Autopilots.
“It is becoming increasingly difficult to repair and replace parts for the Magic EFIS. It is an earlier generation system and has very limited interface capability,” said Jerry Autrey, Avionics Program Manager, West Star Aviation. “The STC will be a great option for Conquest II operators to upgrade their system and take advantage of an RVSM solution.”
In addition to the RVSM STC, the Garmin G600 features LPV with WAAS Navigators, TAWS-B, XM Weather, charts, traffic, and safe taxi, as well as Synthetic Vision Systems (SVT). The SVT gives operators a “virtual reality” perspective view of the ground and water features, obstacles and traffic. all shown in relative proximity to their aircraft.
“We expect a large number of operators will want to take advantage of this STC,” continued Autrey, “Interested customers should contact us now to schedule the needed installation.”
Once the STC is complete, installation is available at West Star’s East Alton, IL (ALN) or Grand Junction, CO (GJT) locations.
