Attention Phenom 300 Operators: Flight Control Trim Tab Inspections

Embraer has recently issued a Notice Letter regarding an inspection of the flight control trim tab piano hinges on the Phenom 300.  This includes the aileron, rudder, and both elevator trim tabs.  The Notice Letter is NL505-27-0002 issued 9/30/2022.  It is highly recommended that all the affected airplanes consider performing the Aileron, Rudder, and Elevator backlash inspections per SB505-27-0032 within the next 50 flight hours or 60 days.

The Notice Letter states that the affected airplanes are suffering premature wear of the piano hinge.  If it is necessary to replace the tab surface and main surface hinge and pin, painting and surface static balancing will be required.  West Star Aviation can handle all of this as an Embraer Authorized Service Center.

The parts in the Service Bulletin kit will be provided at no charge.

The labor to incorporate the Service Bulletin on your airplane will be covered by Embraer.

The warranty coverage will be valid for 3 months after the Service Bulletin issue date.  Warranty coverage expires December 29, 2022, so it is recommended that you schedule this inspection with West Star Aviation as soon as possible to ensure an input date within the coverage period.

This initial inspection will take one day.  If the hinges need replacement and paint, those repairs will take approximately one week.  Inspection and repair can be completed at any of our four full-service locations in East Alton, IL (ALN); Grand Junction, CO (GJT); Chattanooga, TN (CHA) and Perryville, MO (PCD).
