Colorado Environmental Leadership Program Recognizes West Star Aviation
West Star Aviation is proud to announce they have received a Silver Award from the Colorado Environmental Leadership Program (ELP). This is the third time West Star has received the Silver Award since they were first recognized as a Bronze Achiever in 2010. They received their award during a ceremony held in Denver, Colorado, on October 17, 2013.
The Colorado Environmental Leadership Program is a statewide environmental recognition and reward program administered by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s Sustainability Program. The program’s goal is to foster relationships, reward environmental performance and create a healthier, cleaner and more sustainable Colorado. To learn more about the program visit www.colorado.gov.
“Our initiatives at GJT have continued to grow in scope and in participation so this is an exciting award for us,” says Dave Krogram, General Manager, West Star Aviation. “We know more and more customers are looking to companies to be more environmentally responsible and we are happy to answer that call.”
In order to be recognized as an ELP Silver Partner, West Star had to continue to uphold the ELP requirements while striving to expand their sustainability initiatives. This means they passed the strict qualifications held by the state of Colorado, as well as upheld the regulations put forth by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency, including implanting sustainability efforts such as energy efficiency, waste minimization, and water conservation.
West Star has continued to expand their recycling program, which includes but is not limited to: Metal, wood, rubber, batteries (both disposable and aircraft), paper and new and used oil. In addition, West Star continues to reduce their power consumption with relighting projects, motion sensors and energy saving compressors.
