During an AOG event, line service of an FBO facility at Williamsport Regional Airport inadvertently damaged the L/H winglet assembly on an Embraer Phenom 300E. West Star Aviation was contacted to help evaluate the extent of the damage and devise a repair strategy.
It was determined that the winglet unit would need to be replaced onsite. Working closely with West Star composites specialists, a replacement plan was developed and the repair was approved by Embraer.
At this stage, the West Star Aviation AOG/MRT sent two Technicians to complete the permanent repair, including one of our Structures specialists. The team needed to locate, drill and countersink more than 100 attachment points. This process took approximately 4-5 days to complete and went smoothly. The aircraft was returned to service upon completion of the replacement and is currently scheduled for paint.
