Textron has updated the Structural Repair Manual for Hawker 800XP/850XP/900XP operators with factory installed winglets. Often overlooked, this recommendation has been embedded within SRM 57-10-19 detailing the procedures to be accomplished during the “F” inspection including an inspection of Rib 16 and winglet spar fitting for corrosion.
The SRM outlines the process for winglet removal, cleaning and corrosion inspection. If no corrosion present, the winglet is then treated with appropriate corrosion prevention and reinstalled.
The newly embedded section recommends adding drain holes to the bottom of the winglet at this time.
The addition of these drain holes is easily visually confirmed.
If the drain holes are not added during the “F” inspection, the operator may incur additional downtime
While the drain holes do not pose any safety of flight issues, the new addition to the SRM can be easily overlooked.
