The 240-Month inspection for the Bombardier Global Express series of aircraft is the most extensive and detailed inspection performed during the aircraft’s service life. 

Essentially a repeat of the 120-Month inspection with full overhaul of the landing gear assemblies, this is a large maintenance event involving numerous departments requiring a detailed and specific skill set.

Gaining access for such rigorous scrutiny takes detailed planning for not only the MRO facility, but for the owner/operator as well.

Some of the common issues addressed during the 120/240-Month inspection are:

  • Complying with the Flap Service Bulletins
  • Flap Spigot Repair/Replacement
  • Aileron Forward Shroud Panels
  • Rudder and Elevator Trailing Edge Block Corrosion
  • APU Tail Skin Corrosion

West Star Aviation has the unique ability to perform the flap repairs in-house if corrosion is found (Part D of the SB’s) while performing the initial inspections. Up until recently, some other maintenance facilities have been scrapping these parts while our in-house repair procedure have saved operators money while not extending the downtime.

Operators who have a 120/240-Month inspection on the horizon should plan well in advance of the anticipated inspection window to ensure hangar and manpower availability. This is not something that can be planned and executed within a month or so of the due date. 

Owners and operators should also consider that there will be a significant savings if other work is performed during this downtime, while the interior is completely removed and the aircraft is accessible and static while the landing gear is being overhauled. Many operators choose to perform full interior refurbishment, CMS upgrades, LED cabin lighting, floor plan seating changes, KA-band satellite systems etc. to parallel the maintenance checks.
